How I work with couples

Couples therapy for the best in each other

Does it feel like many pressures on each of you have multiplied? It seems everyday you watch each other sink lower and lose trust and respect. Maybe you start to avoid one another. Suddenly a sense of freedom is replaced by resentments. Or worse, it all begins to fall into manipulation, lies, or distraction in a million ways. Co-parenting, parenting in a complex world, work & career demands, other relationships, all begin to weigh things down. Couple distress is common. Showing the less shiny parts of yourself at these hardest of times seems terrifying, yet this is exactly what reduces anxiety and restores confidence, trust and stability. It’s the paradox of intimacy.

As an experienced couples therapist, I am an advocate for both partners in a safe and accountable place. With your permission & at your pace, we will navigate turbulent deeper waters with focus, warmth, and even humor in an honest and forthright way. We’ll collaborate to figure out new possibilities within and between each person.

Today, more than ever, couples have elevated priorities and needs for their relationships which, in turn, requires up-leveled relationship skills. I am deeply respectful of the process for each couple. I value the experience of each person feeling seen and heard throughout our work together. Once I start working with you as a couple, I don’t see either person separately unless there is a unique circumstance calling for it. Transparency is of utmost importance as we invite an exploration into the obstacles that may be in the way of what you most want.

YOU CAN INFLUENCE EACH OTHER ~ YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR PARTNER AND YOUR PARTNER CAN’T CHANGE YOU.

How I work with individuals

Individual counseling with curiosity and encouragement.

Many people find it difficult to deal with problems alone and find it harder to get past feeling stuck. We blame ourselves when life simply becomes too big. Working together, we can build understanding and open up new perspectives, grapple with options, find insight and confidence around your struggles and test out your next steps.

I work with people who are looking for support with personal growth. It is a daily decision of curiosity & self discovery. It is honoring your needs and gaining self awareness: of your values, trade-offs you’re facing, your priorities, creating meaning in a world of seismic change. It is getting really good at challenging limiting beliefs, sizing up your inner world, mental health and life satisfaction.

I believe YOU are the expert in your life. I utilize complementary and integrated approaches that recognize your unique strengths and qualities and the inner wisdom that resides. I bring the values of unconditional regard, curiosity, & forthrightness into each session with honesty & compassion. We work at a pace that works with you.

When life makes sense, it can become calm and thriving, not just surviving.
